Abstract

Two-wave mixing experiments demonstrate amplification of optical signals using the photorefractive effect in InP:Fe. Signal beam amplification was obtained at both 1.06 μm and 1.32 μm with gains of 13 dB/cm and 11 dB/cm, using alternating electric fields of up to ±104 V/cm. Differential amplification at data rates exceeding the material response time is demonstrated.
