Optical second harmonic generation from self-organized Au nanowire arrays on the NaCl(110) template

Abstract

We have measured azimuthal angle dependence of the optical second harmonic (SH) intensity from the self-organaized Au nanowire arrays prepared by shadow deposition on the NaCl(110) template at the SH photon energy of 2 ℏω=2.33eV. The SH intensity pattern shows two lobes for the p-in/p-out and the s-in/p-out polarization configurations, and four lobes for the p-in/s-out polarization configuration. We suggest that the observed SH intensity patterns are characterized by the nonlinear susceptibility arising from a quasi- C2v symmetry of the Au nanowire arrays / NaCl(110) system.
