Abstract

The optical properties of a number of steroidal thiolacetates, synthesized recently in the authors' laboratories, have been investigated. Optical rotatory dispersion and circular dichroism measurements have detected a long wavelength low intensity absorption near 270 mμ and have demonstrated that this absorption is optically active. Some temperature-dependent circular dichroism studies have been made in order to gain insight into the conformational mobility of the chromophoric system.
