Abstract
A method is presented for the instantaneous optical reconstruction of magnetic resonance images directly from free induction decay data. The method, which is holographic, depends on the identity between the FID (free induction decay) and the Fourier transform of the nuclear spin density with respect to the time integral of the magnetic field gradients. The method may be implemented using simple and inexpensive equipment, and in principle requires no intermediate data storage.
