Abstract

AbstractZn2CuGaSe4 and Zn2CuGaSe4 :Co2+ single crystals are grown by the slow cooling method. The optical energy gaps of these single crystals are found to be 1.510 and 1.490 cV at 298 K, respectively. In the Zn2CuGaSe4 :Co2+ single crystals, the impurity optical absorption peaks are attributed to the electronic transitions between the electron energy levels of Co2+ ions sited at the Td symmetry of the Zn2CuGaSe4 host lattice. The crystal field, Racah, and spin—orbit coupling parameters are given as Dq = 425.5, B = 404, and λ = −348 cm−1, respectively.
