Abstract
Thermal evaporated pure CdTe thin films were prepared by varying substrate temperatures from 30°C to 300°C. The films show high absorption in the visible and near infrared region of electromagnetic spectrum. Optical measurements show an increase in the optical band gap from 1.475eV to 1.63eV for a substrate temperature variation from 30°C to 300°C. The films were highly resistive and show p-type conductivity. The resistivity is found to decrease with increasing substrate temperature.
