Abstract

Abstract We have measured the optical conductivity σ1(ω) of the filled skutterudites CeFe4Sb12, CeRu4Sb12, and CeOs4Sb12. These σ1(ω) spectra are explained in terms of the hybridization between Ce 4f states and conduction (c) electron states. From the comparison of the σ1(ω) spectra, it is concluded that the degree of c–f hybridization is strongest for CeFe4Sb12 and weakest for CeOs4Sb12.
