Abstract

Abstract We present optical reflectance and Raman-scattering studies of double perovskite structure Sr2Y(Ru1−xCux)O6 systems as a function of temperature and doping. The optical conductivities of all doping samples studied have the character of an insulator at low frequencies, showing only optical phonons in the far-infrared. As the temperature is lowered, the A1 g apical oxygen phonon mode exhibits a noticeable softening below magnetic ordered and superconducting transitions, indicative of a strong lattice–spin-charge coupling in these materials.
