Abstract
The optical properties of liquid glycerol, ${\rm CH}_{2}{\rm OH}\cdot {\rm CHOH}\cdot {\rm CH}_{2}{\rm OH}$ , were measured by several methods from 2.6 to 22.4 eV. Optical and dielectric data are interpreted in terms of a molecular excitation of the σ electrons and also a collective oscillation of these same electrons.
