Abstract

CuWO4 nanoparticles were prepared via microemulsion procedure. Cu(NO3)2 and Na2WO4 solutions were reacted under H2O/1-butanol/isooctane/CTAB microemulsion. The as-prepared material was calcined at 450 °C for 6 h to remove surfactant and organic compounds. Formation process of CuWO4 during the microemulsion reaction was established. Morphological and microstructural investigations show that the prepared CuWO4 product is completely pure with p-1 space group. The microscopy analysis showed spherical CuWO4 nanoparticles with diameter about 25 nm. Optical properties of the prepared CuWO4 nanoparticles were investigated by UV-Vis absorption spectroscopy which indicated the presence of direct band gap in the CuWO4 nanoparticles with magnitude of 2.5 eV.
