Abstract
Optical properties of an adatom adsorbed near a surface of a small metallic particle are investigated by means of the reservoir theory, Dekker's (1979) quantisation procedure and the modified image theory. Surface-induced lifetime and Lamb shift as well as the resonance fluorescence spectrum are discussed. Size effects as well as the distance between the adatom and the particle surface are fund to play an important role.
