Abstract
The dielectric functions of ${\mathrm{CeSn}}_{3}$ and ${\mathrm{LaSn}}_{3}$ were remeasured to correct errors in previous measurements. The partial-sum rule for the optical conductivity shows that ${\mathrm{CeSn}}_{3}$ has about 0.54 electrons per formula unit more than ${\mathrm{LaSn}}_{3}$, contributing to the conductivity in the 1.5--5.4-eV region.
