Abstract
Optical parametric oscillation (OPO) has been achived in β-BaB2O4 (BBO) pumped by the second (SHG) and the third harmonics (THG) of a Nd : YAG laser. Theoretically predicted OPO conditions such as phase matching angles, thresholds, and linewidths were compared with the experimental results. The overall energy conversion efficiencies of 22, 18, and 27% were obtained for type I, II process pumped by the SHG and the type I process pumped by the THG of a Nd : YAG laser, the tuning ranges realized 0.73-1.95, 0.9-1.3, and 0.55-1.0 μm, respectively.
