Abstract

A simple optical method is developed to determine the natural frequencies as well as the nodes and antinodes of plates in flexural vibration. The method is based on the intensity shift to the nodal areas of a parallel light beam reflected on the polished surface of the plate because of the wavy form of the vibrating plate.
