Abstract

Proton total reaction cross sections have been measured as part of an extensive programme of optical model studies being carried out with the Rutherford Laboratory linear accelerator. A beam attenuation technique was used. Results have been obtained at an energy of 28.5±1.5 MeV for Ca 40(913±38 mb), Fe 56(1140±43 mb), Co 59(1169±39 mb), Ni 58(1038±32 mb), Ni 60(1053±51 mb), Sn 120(1638±68 mb) and Pb 208(1865±98 mb).
