Abstract
Based on theoretical modeling of optical microfiber loop resonator (MLR) and Hauf-Grigull relation, we have combined the ability of MLR in the sensing of ambient refractive index to the linear dependence of the refractive index of gases to the pressure and introduced the MLR structure for gas pressure sensing. The simulation results show the reduction in the microfiber radius increases the sensitivity of the sensor. Also, due to the significant difference between the sensitivities of some gases such as O2 and CO2, we have proposed this sensor to detect the type of such gases.
