Abstract

This paper presents a review of the work carried out at the S. I. Vavilov State Optical Institute on the creation, modification, and investigation of metallic nanostructures grown on the surface of transparent dielectric materials, using the self-organization method. This work is based on the processes of photostimulated desorption, photostimulated surface diffusion, and photoatomic emission detected and studied earlier. Absorption spectroscopy, nonlinear optics, and optical fluctuation microscopy are used to characterize the ensembles of metallic nanoparticles.
