Abstract
High accuracy linear optical birefringence measurements on TbPO 4 are reported. The magnetic field was oriented parallel to the [001] direction. The magnetic phase boundaries near the bicritical point [ T b = (1.90 ± 0.02) K, H b = (3.67 ± 0.03) kOe] have been determined. A good agreement was obtained comparing the experimental results to predictions of the extended scaling theory.
