Abstract
We consider the behaviour of populations of the levels 1 S and 1 D of neutral oxygen [OI] at ionospheric heights when microbursts of electron fluxes impulsively excite the excitation mechanism. We also discuss the possibility that microbursts of electron fluxes can manifest themselves in the form of optical flashes at 557.7 and 630.0 nm.
