Abstract

Thin films of EuS have been investigated by means of optical transmission and reflection spectroscopy. Due to vacuum evaporation onto quartz and sapphire at substrate temperatures between 20–800 K the films differed in stoichiometry by up to 20%. EuS films on sapphire could also been investigated by means of light scattering from acoustic spinwaves.
