Abstract

Direct optical injection locking of a monolithic self-oscillating mixer operating at ~6 GHz is reported. The mixing can be achieved with conversion gain and the locking provides considerable improvement in carrier-to-noise ratio for both the oscillation signal and the resultant intermediate-frequency (IF) signal. This type of component may be attractive for systems involving the fibre distribution of microwave reference signals.
