Abstract

We investigate generation of microwave passband signals with a tunable central frequency using optical up-conversion. We consider systems without and with optical fiber transmission links. The technique performs photodetection of optically filtered gain switched laser pulses. Using appropriate electrical filters, we demonstrate up-conversion centered at 25, 35, and 45 GHz. © 2012 Wiley Periodicals, Inc.
