Abstract

An active all-fibre ring resonator gyroscope based on stimulated Brillouin scattering is demonstrated. The occurrence of guided acoustic modes in certain optical fibres is found to increase the lock-in range, and a novel method to reduce lock-in for this type of gyroscope is investigated.
