Abstract

Surface-enhanced Raman scattering (SERS) probes based on optical fibers are capable of providing molecularly specific signals in remote detections of analytes in low concentration. Preparation of fiber SERS probes is generally based on random formation of silver or gold nanoparticles on the fiber end by dipping the fiber end into the Ag/Au colloid and then drying it [1]. Laser-induction is a convenient way to prepare SERS substrates of silver nanoparticles patterned as the laser spot [2]. Here we present fiber SERS probes with laser-induced silver nanoparticles deposition on the core. The performance of the probes is examined by detections of Rhodamine 6G solution.
