Abstract
A novel optical liquid level sensor based on macro-bending coupling of fiber is proposed. Two plastic fibers are twisted and twined on a polyamide stick to construct a liquid level sensor. The results show that the output light power has a linear change with the variation of the liquid level. The higher sensitivity is acquired for the higher refractive index liquid and the smaller radius of the macro-bending of fibers. At the same time, the temperature effect to the sensor has also been researched and discussed.
