Abstract

Major factors affecting optical frequency-division multiplexing (FDM) distribution system design and the related multiplexing/distribution and detection techniques and channel selection configurations are discussed. A 5-GHz-spaced 16-channel FDM distribution experiment using a monolithic waveguide frequency selection switch (tunable filter) is demonstrated as an example of an optical FDM information distribution system. A multicarrier frequency stabilization technique is also demonstrated. The experimental results are described. >
