Abstract

In this study, we describe the preparation of planarheterojunction (PHJ) bilayer based on the electron donor- acceptor (D-A) pairing of 4,4′-Cyclohexylidenebis[N,N-bis(4-methylphenyl)benzenamine] (TAPC) and C70 by thermal vapor deposition technique. As donor, TAPC is a hole transport material with high hole mobility and acts as a good electron blocker material. As an acceptor, C70 has electron accepting and transport capability due to high electron mobility. For the application in organic photovoltaics (OPV), TAPC/C70 bilayer has been optically investigated using UV-Vis spectroscopy. The energy gap Eg is derived by Tauc plots as 1.61 eV. Transmittance measurements are incorporated to evaluate n (refractive index) using Swanepoel’s method. The optical dispersive constants mainly k (extinction coefficient), ε1 (real) and ε2 (imaginary) parts of dielectric constants, tanδ (dielectric loss), σopt (optical conductivity) are also calculated for PHJ bilayer.
