Abstract

AbstractDiffraction gratings are an essential part of a spectrometer. The optical properties of a grating with respect to high grating efficiency, low polarization sensitivity and low stray light level improve the signal to noise ratio and the spectral resolution of a spectrometer, thus enabling further applications of spectroscopy. The production of gratings with a highest level of optical performance is therefore a prerequisite for high‐resolution spectrometers. The complete process of grating production is established on an industrial scale based on holography or mechanical ruling, the subsequent step of replication will be used for the production of higher quantities.
