Abstract

Honeycomb periodic structures have been known for thousand years. The study of such structures has been renewed in the last years in relation to the unique physical properties of graphene. Here we report experimental and theoretical studies of optical diffraction from planar photonic structures with honeycomb symmetry known as “photonic graphene”. We employ the two-photon polymerization method to fabricate honeycomb structures, and then study their optical diffraction properties.
