Abstract

A beamline was designed and constructed for powder diffraction at BL02B2 bending magnet port of the SPring-8. In the beamline, high-energy X-rays up to 40 keV are usable by taking the advantage of the high-energy storage ring. Highly monochromatic and parallel X-ray beam is available by using a bendable mirror followed by a double crystal monochromator. An adjustable inclined geometry of the monochromator, in which diffraction net-planes of crystal is selective among Si 1 1 1, 3 1 1, and 5 1 1, covers a wide range of photon energy. An energy resolution can also be selected by the change of diffraction net-plane. Si, Pt and Ni mirror surface can be selectively used to reject higher harmonics.
