Abstract

Derivatives of 18 amino acids with 2-nitroindandion-1,3 have been prepared and analyzed. The optical crystallographic data have been determined for 15 of these new compounds. Photo-micrographs of these nitroindandionates have been made. Several of the compounds prepared did not form crystals of sufficient size to accurately determine all of the optical properties. This condition was especially true with the compounds obtained from arginine, phenylalanine, methionine, and tryptophane.
