Abstract

Corona discharge to free surface of dielectric liquids creates electrohydrodynamic (EHD) fluid motion due to hydrodynamic drag of running charge movement along the surface. Since it is very difficult for us to observe directly the fluid motion, the visible and suspensible tracer was frequently used as our usual measure in this research field. However, the tracer impurity is undesirable for leading electrical disturbance as the tracer visibility is preferential. To break the disturbance, a dielectric liquid tracer of fluorescence has been made in this study, and has been examined to see if it satisfies the intended object. As the results, the steady EHD fluid motion induced by surface corona discharge has been presented in visual impressions.
