Abstract

A general study to optimize the photogenerated current density as a function of the optical properties of Schottky barrier cells is reported. The model takes into account the transmittance of the various films constituting the cell in order to determine the optimum thickness, consistent with their other physical properties, for maximizing the current density. Calculations for an Au/nSi cell indicate that there are well-defined thicknesses giving optimum values of the current density.
