Abstract

A theoretical study of bistability in a two-coupler optical fiber ring resonator is presented. The bistability is caused mainly by the degenerate two-wave mixing in which the circulating intensity of the fiber ring depends on the intensity ratio of the signal to the pump beams. The dependence of the bistability on various parameters of the fibers and the couplers is investigated.
