Abstract
A new algorithm which takes into account the history of input intensity is presented to describe nonlinear characteristics such as optical bistability and multistability in nonlinear multilayered structures. The optical response along with the history of input intensity is demonstrated in a straightforward way with this algorithm. Beam reshaping due to different transmissivity in the transverse section is investigated when a laser beam passes through nonlinear multilayered structures.
