Abstract

Metal–organic coordination complex crystal triallylthiourea cadmium chloride has been synthesized by slow evaporation technique. The grown crystals were characterized by single crystal and powder X-ray diffraction analysis. The second harmonic generation measurement confirms that the crystal has nonlinear optical property. The spectroscopic studies revealed that the grown crystal has good optical transparency. The functional groups have been identified using infrared spectrum. The mechanical strength of the grown crystal was found from Vickers micro hardness measurement and the thermal stabilities were determined with the aid of thermo gravimetric analysis and differential thermal analysis. The surface morphology was studied by using field emission scanning electron microscope and atomic force microscopy.
