Abstract

The retardation zone of a supersonic pulse plasma jet striking a stationary obstacle is investigated. A condensed plasma zone with elevated temperature and pressure is formed in front of the obstacle. This zone emits a continuous spectrum. Retardation of a plasma jet can be used to create a high-temperature pulse source of continuous radiation.
