Abstract

The optical and infrared properties of small metal particles are reviewed. Among the properties discussed are surface plasmon resonances in small particles, electric and magnetic dipole absorption in the far infrared region, changes in small particle optical properties between the normal and superconducting state, and the influence of clustering on the a.c. properties of small particles. Illustrations will be drawn from experiments, and from calculations by the authors and by other workers.
