Abstract

BaTiO 3 films have been deposited on ITO coated glass by sol–gel method using barium acetate and titanium butoxide as starting materials. The optical properties were studied by UV–VIS–NIR spectroscopy and the results indicated that the films had high transparency in the visible spectral zone. From the UV–VIS absorption data, the band gaps of the films were determined to be in the range of 3.72–3.77 eV, depending on the annealing temperature and time. Electrical measurements revealed that dielectric constants of the films increased with the increase of annealing time and temperature and reached a value of 180, but the breakdown voltage decreased from 100 × 10 6 to 12.5 × 10 6 V m −1 at the same time.
