Abstract

The features of optical-acoustic diagnostics of defects in the form of cracks on the surface of solid bodies in a pulsed mode are investigated. It has been established that pulsed surface Rayleigh waves should be used to detect cracks. The largest amplitude of the scattered surface acoustic wave is achieved at the optimum width of the laser spot, directed to the center of the crack.
