Abstract
AbstractOptical absorption spectrum of Cr3+ ions doped in NH4Cl single crystals is studied in the temperature range from 300 to 143 K. From the observed spectrum it is concluded that Cr3+ ions enter interstitially into NH4Cl lattice and the site symmetry of the Cr3+ ions are lowered from octahedral to tetragonal. The crystal field and the tetragonal parameters are evaluated.
