Abstract

BaBiO 3 is a superconductor if doped with Pb at the Bi sites (BaPb 1− x ,Bi x O 3 , x 3 was doped with K at the Ba sites (Ba 0.9 K x Bi03, x ≈ 0.2). BaBiO 3 , the reference compound for both of these superconductors is semi conducting because of a CDW distortion that produces two non-equivalent Bi sites. I study the absorption line shape of transitions across a model CDW-gap theoretically and compare it with recent optical experiments.
