Abstract

The hereditary optic neuropathies comprise a group of hereditable disorders accompanied by optic nerve dysfunctions. Due to clinical variability, diagnosis and classification of the disease are difficult. In some hereditary optic neuropathies, optic nerve dysfunction is the only sign of the disease, whereas the others include various neurologic and systemic abnormalities. In this review, optic neuropathies in neurodegenerative disorders of childhood are discussed.
