Abstract

Similar to Bangladeshi ready-made garments sector that is worth around USD $9.3 billion export in 2006?2007 with 23% export growth, Bangladesh holds the potential for an equally lucrative business sector. Evidently, numerous reports and studies have been produced and published in recent years identifying the insatiable demand for Registered Nurses (RNs) in the developed world including the UK and primarily the USA. In these days, the USA has lowered the barriers of entry for the graduates from foreign nursing schools as an added incentive. Such acute shortage of nurses could be addressed by exporting trained nurses from developing countries like Bangladesh where skilled labours are available at quite a reasonable cost. The paper has covered a brief overview of the demand and supply side, and various supporting reports and statistics that signifies the profound importance on the subject matter. Interested international investors could take a facilitate themselves to enter this billion-dollar market by taking a leading role in leverage the opportunity, potential and capacity of the Bangladeshi healthcare professionals.
