Abstract

Editor—Eddahchouri and colleagues1 recently reported that continuous wireless vital sign monitoring on hospital wards reduced ICU admissions and rapid response team calls. Notably, the authors adopted emerging technology into their daily workflow by linking wireless devices to electronic health records, allowing automatic recording of high-resolution vital sign data. This contrasts with previous studies that used continuous wireless monitoring as a separate system to alert clinicians to patient deterioration,2,3 and sends an important message that seamless integration of wireless technology into a hospital system is feasible.
