Abstract

International design education collaborations offer students the opportunity to prepare for careers in multi-national corporations and international industrial product development and design teams. They also offer faculty a broadened perspective on engineering education and open a door to further international collaboration with their colleagues in other countries. Tips are offered for creating and running a capstone design course that brings together students from different universities and different countries into international teams. These tips and examples of pitfalls which should be avoided in creating such programs are based on the author's experience with teams of design students from universities in the United States, France, England, and Thailand.
