Abstract
Drone or Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) industry has continuously and rapidly grown. Predictably, exponential growth in the Asian market in this coming decade is expected. Globally, drone technologies and applications in the industry have extensively expanded into government and enterprise usages such as structural inspection, safety surveillance, survey and 3D mapping, agriculture, as well as logistics. However, in Thailand, there are still some challenges to perfectly utilizing the technology dedicated to industrial growth. Contributed to Thailand’s drone industry, the objective of this study is to determine opportunities and challenges, both of which are extracted from a focus group of drone experts in various sectors such as technology owners, distributors, resellers, government and enterprise users, educators, including regulators. The preliminary results reveal some concerns in regulations and supporting policies from the government. Later on, the documentary research method through collecting data from articles is applied comparing with focused group results is achieved as gap analysis.
