Abstract

In this study, the researcher used the quali-quantitative descriptive approach. The semi-modified research questionnaire was used to gather data. Mean and Mann-Whitney U test were used. The results of the study showed that when the respondents were taken as an entire group and when they were taken according educational attainment, the improper garbage disposal, throwing of garbage on the river, inappropriate farming practices, cultivating hilly areas for cash crops by removing existing vegetation/trees, constructing piggery and poultry in thickly populated areas, deforestation/ massive cutting of trees, exhaust from factories, forest/bush fires, use of dynamites in, incomplete combustion from factories, continuous use chemical herbicide, continuous use of chemical-base fertilizers, and burning of garbage such as plastic, rubber and styrofoams were a “serious” cause of environmental degradation. To minimize, if not totally stop, the rapid degradation of our environment, everyone must take his part. Minimize, regulate and educate people about man-made hazard to environment. Encourage and support campaign and programs to preserve the environment.
