Abstract

Educational standards for entry into the profession of occupational therapy have undergone widespread changes in the past decade. The impacts of higher education standards in North America and in Europe have been positive for both the visibility and practice of the profession. These changes have been reflected in the Standards and Quality Programme of the World Federation of Occupational Therapists. This paper provides a summary of these challenges and the opinion of the author on steps toward meeting these challenges in way that supports all occupational therapy educational programs.
