Abstract

For his second volume of the<i>Ophthalmology Annual</i>, Dr Robert Reinecke has selected a spectrum of topics, ranging from new, rapidly evolving techniques, such as radial keratotomy and the use of hyaluronate in ophthalmic surgery, to updated discussions on cystoid macular edema, neovascular glaucoma, and chalazia. Although the chapters are concise, they are surprisingly comprehensive in their discussion of both historical perspectives and current management strategies. Each chapter is easy to read and a valuable resource for ophthalmologists at all levels of training and expertise. In this sense, Dr Reinecke achieves his stated objective of "writing in a colleague-to-colleague fashion about the way the topic is handled." Overall, the quality of the material presented is excellent. All of the authors have proven expertise in their fields. The chapters are complemented by critically selected bibliographies. Although most photographs are black-and-white, their fine quality is adequate compensation. The chapter "Imaging in Neuro-ophthalmology"
